Christmas in Habanero
During the week of Christmas 2006. The children were treated to a special day! First a trip to the river. This is special because the children are learning as they go. They learn new social skills, like walking in line, listening and interacting peacefully with other children. Without the Evergreen Ministries the children wonder aimlessly around the village unsupervised. The children thrive under adult guidence.

Here the children listen by the river to Pastor Candido telling the story of the birth of Jesus. Pastor Candidohas been a pastor for 5 years. He lives in Barahona, which is about 12 miles away. He teaches the children songs and prayers. He is in Habanero everyday providing structure and opportunity to learn about Jesus. His pay is 2,000 pesos per month, or about $60.00 USD. He is a blessing to Habanero.

The day ends with cake, cookies and juice. These children do not have birthday parties or birthday cake so you can imagine their joy this day!

The dedicated staff in Habanero. These are the people ministering to the children every day. The children learn how to go to the bathroom, flush a toilet, personal hygiene and activities are provided to give them direction. There are many everyday things the children would not learn if they were not for the staff. They would not know the love of the Lord who provides and aids them.
